    Vermont State Requirements

    Continuing Education Hours

    • Producer: Twenty-four (24) CE credit hours are required biennially.
    • Workers Compensation Adjuster: attend 1 insurance department Workers Compensation seminar per renewal cycle.

    Course Subject Requirements

    • A maximum of 6 hours related to insurance agency management may be taken for CE credit per review period.
    • Agents wishing to sell LTC must also complete a 8-hourLTC requirement prior to selling LTC products. The LTC requirement counts towards the completion of the basic CE requirement. By the end of each consecutive renewal period, agents must complete a 4-hour "refresher" state-approved LTC course to continue selling LTC.
    • Agents wishing to sell flood insurance must also complete a one-time, 3 hour flood course approved for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) training.
    • A maximum of 6 hours related to insurance agency management may be taken for CE credit per review period.

    Continuing Education Compliance Date

    3/31 biennially in odd numbered years.

    Independent self-study courses or classroom

    Carryover Requirements

    Carryover of excess CE credit hours is not allowed.

    Course Repetition

    Credit will not be given for courses taken more than once in a 2-year period.

    Final Exam

    Self study final exams must be monitored by a disinterested third party.

    Exemptions

    • Producers licensed less than 2 years at the time of first renewal.
    • Limited Line Representatives, including Title Insurance, Travel Accident, and Travel Baggage Insurance
    • Nonresident licensees in good standing with their home state
    • Property and Casualty adjusters
    • Public adjusters
    • Crop adjusters

    Method to Certify Completion

    Your certificate will be emailed to you once we receive your monitor form and report you for the course. The course provider will submit credits earned to the CE administrator within one business day of course completion. Producers should maintain certificates of completion in their files for 4 years.

    Roster Fees

    A roster fee of $1.50 per credit hour ordered is required to process course completion hours in Vermont and will be added to the order total upon checkout.

    Nonresidents

    Exempt if producer is in good standing in their resident state. Nonresident WC adjuster must complete VT seminar.
